Wow. I do not know if it was just the strong and vivid content of Mrs. Clintons speech or the fact that it realy did make sense...but it blew my mind. At first I did not fully understand what "women are central to American security" meant. It sounded like a vague snappy sounding phrase that polititians could use to argue anything.
"It is no coincidence that so many of the countries that threaten regional and global peace are the very places where women and girls are deprived of dignity and opportunity," Clinton said. "It is no coincidence that so many of the countries where the rule of law and democracy are struggling to take root are the same places where women and girls cannot participate as full and equal citizens. Like in Egypt..."
That quote makes sense in every way shape and form. Though it cannot be proven through statistics or facts I believe it. But I also think that when education and literacy levels drop with any gender, age, or race there will be oppression which will indeed lead to unrest and ultimately extremism.
